Executive Clinical Lead - Irish Prison Service
The IPS is responsible for the safe and secure detention of persons in custody in establishments located throughout the country. The IPS operates as an executive agency within the Department of Justice and Equality. The IPS is committed to a programme of reform to support the provision of safe and secure services for the prisoner population.
The IPS wishes to appoint an Executive Clinical Lead (ECL).
The Executive Clinical Lead will be a key member of IPS senior management team and is expected to contribute actively to the successful achievement of the Organisation’s strategic objectives.
This ECL will lead and play an integral role in the provision of health and personal social services to persons in the custody of the IPS through the provision of effective clinical advice and strategic direction. The role will also lead on the national implementation of agreed recommendations arising from the independent Health Needs Assessment.
Reporting to the Director of Care and Rehabilitation, the ECL will proactively identify service development priorities as part of a Strategic Healthcare Plan. The healthcare provision is a statutory obligation on the IPS covering primary care, addiction, and mental health.
To qualify for this permanent post, you will hold a postgraduate medical degree and be on the Specialist Register of a Professional Body recognised by the Irish Medical Council. As the ECL, your remuneration will be as per the public pay scales. Different terms and conditions may apply if you are a currently serving civil or public servant.
