Quality Control Technician – Monaghan – Excellent Benefits Package
Your New Role
This is a full-time, predominantly site-based position for a Quality Control Technician, reporting to the Technical Manager. The role is primarily located at the client’s central Monaghan site; however, the successful candidate may be required to support additional sites as operational needs arise. The position calls for an energetic, proactive individual who will work closely with production teams to ensure that all products and processes meet internal specifications, legal requirements, and customer standards. The Quality Control Technician will oversee day-to-day quality activities and support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System.
Hours of Work
- Standard hours: 6:00am – 3:00pm
- Some operational days may require working 8:30am – 5:30pm
Responsibilities
- Carry out routine quality control checks, including:
- Raw material testing
- Finished product inspections
- A solid understanding of a food production floor environment
- Experience with CIP systems
- Experience working with pasteurising machines or similar food production equipment
- Strong knowledge of HACCP and Quality Management Systems (BRCGS experience essential)
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety legislation, and customer requirements.
- Identify non-conformances and support the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
- Conduct regular hygiene and GMP audits within production areas.
- Participate in customer and third-party audits, including BRCGS audits.
- Investigate customer complaints, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Proactively identify opportunities for product and process improvement.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving product quality, enhancing line efficiency, reducing waste, minimising downtime, and reducing consumer complaints.
- Support and motivate production teams in understanding food safety, quality standards, and common sources of complaints.
- Monitor, analyse, and report on Quality KPIs to ensure performance targets are met.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of Quality & Food Safety systems.
- Complete documentation accurately in line with internal procedures and SOPs.
- Perform computer-based reporting and record-keeping tasks.
- Assist in the training of production personnel on food safety and quality procedures.
- Carry out any additional duties as assigned by the Technical Manager or their delegate.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of HACCP and Quality Management Systems.
- BRCGS experience is essential.
- Experience in New Product Development (NPD) is advantageous.
- High-risk production experience is desirable but not essential.
