Legal Advisor | 11 Months – Maternity Leave | Public Sector | Dublin City | €75,000

Your new company

As Legal Advisor, you will join a professional team at one of Ireland’s most reputable independent statutory authorities within Health & Social Care, reporting to the Head of Legal. Your new role is located in Dublin City with hybrid working options (1–2 days in the office). Your new company requires you to join their team for 11 months to cover a maternity leave.

Your new role

As Legal Advisor, you will provide sound legal advice and representation to senior officers across all divisions in your new organisation to ensure successful delivery of their objectives.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to, conducting legal research and providing legal advice on the full spectrum of issues relating to your organisation’s functions and responsibilities including statutory interpretation and drafting, public and administrative law, criminal enforcement, data protection, employment law and other legislation and caselaw. You will manage litigation and instruct and engage external legal services where required and attend court where required. You will contribute to projects which require legal research and analysis and provide briefing, reports and presentations when required. Additionally, you will monitor the legal landscape and provide updates to relevant business units of impending legislation or policy developments that may impact their operation, whether domestic or EU. You will also provide any administrative and ad-hoc support when required.

What you'll need to succeed

To become a Legal Advisor, you will be degree qualified (minimum level 8) and have been submitted to and enrolled as a Solicitor in the State or have been called to the Bar of Ireland and enrolled as a barrister in the State. You will have 3 years post-qualification experience as a solicitor or barrister in the State. A Post graduate Law degree (LLB) and/or a Masters in Law (LLM) is desirable.

A proven track record of providing legal advice in a pragmatic and commercially sensitive manner, along with professional experience in areas of administrative and regulatory law is required. You will be experienced in analysing complex legislation and legal agreements before committing to a decision that can be communicated in an easy-to-understand manner is required. Experience as an in-house legal researcher or professional support lawyer and/or regulatory law experience either in house or in private practice is advantageous.
