Overview
A leading civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its growing team. Renowned for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across a range of sectors, the organisation is committed to innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence.
This role is central to ensuring the successful delivery of projects, with responsibility for overseeing site activities, managing teams, and maintaining strict adherence to programme, budget, and safety standards.
Role Responsibilities

- Review project plans and develop a detailed baseline programme using Microsoft Project
- Monitor programme progress and provide regular updates to clients
- Identify and manage critical path delays, including negotiating extensions of time where required
- Review project pricing and monitor internal costs to ensure delivery within budget
- Identify areas of financial risk, analyse root causes, and implement mitigation strategies
- Communicate commercial issues and solutions to the Contracts Manager
- Identify and manage project variations, ensuring appropriate cost recovery from the client
- Review contract documentation and issue required notices within specified timeframes
- Manage and lead site personnel, including Site Agent, Project Engineer, and Quantity Surveyor
- Oversee site operations through the Site Agent, ensuring efficient delivery
- Review and approve monthly progress claims
- Approve Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS) and pre-construction health & safety documentation
- Conduct regular health & safety and quality audits
- Identify design issues and liaise with the client to propose practical solutions
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within civil engineering or construction
- Experience in utilities and working within the road corridor is desirable
- Strong knowledge of contract and commercial management
- Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Full, clean driving licence
- Relevant background in civil engineering or construction preferred
