Senior Payroll Specialist with exposure to high-volume payroll operations – Cork | Full onsite

Your new company

We are partnering with a large multinational engineering and manufacturing organisation with a strong presence in Cork. The company supports global operations across multiple industries and offers a structured, process-driven finance environment with strong collaboration. They are currently seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to join their finance team.

Your new role

An organised & detail-oriented payroll professional to Process Weekly, 2-weekly, 4-Weekly, Monthly Payroll Operations within Ireland. The role partners closely with Finance, HR, and external payroll providers to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing and employee payments.

  • Manage and process payroll across different entities.
  • Prepare, validate, and submit payroll data to external payroll providers, ensuring accuracy and timely payroll sign-off.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure accurate payroll disbursements, employee payments, and responses to payroll-related queries.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, tax requirements, SOX controls, and audit standards across all payroll activities.
  • Support month-end close activities and resolve internal and external audit matters in a timely manner.
  • Build effective working relationships with Finance, HR, Payroll Partners, and third-party providers to ensure smooth payroll operations.
  • Proactively manage workloads, meet payroll deadlines, and stay updated on local payroll legislation and regulatory changes.

What you'll need to succeed

  • IPASS or other accounting qualification preferred
  • 3–5+ years’ experience in high-volume payroll
  • Proven experience working across multiple entities and payrolls
  • Experience with Sage, Thesaurus, Collsoft or similar systems is an advantage.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, and Time & Attendance (T&A) systems
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, building strong cross-functional relationships internally and externally
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to manage priorities and deadlines effectively.
