An established accountancy firm are seeking to recruit an experienced Accounts Assistant in Galway City.

A well-established accountancy firm based in Galway. They provide a range of services including tax advisory, bookkeeping, payroll, and insolvency support. The firm works with clients across various sectors such as construction, retail, agriculture, and family-run businesses.

Your new role

This role combines both accounting and payroll responsibilities, supporting the finance team in delivering high-quality services to a diverse client base. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, including bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, VAT returns, and assisting with the preparation of management accounts and year-end financial statements. They will also manage payroll processing for a portfolio of clients, ensuring compliance with PAYE, PRSI, USC, and other statutory obligations, as well as submitting returns via Revenue Online Service (ROS).

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role, with a strong working knowledge of Irish payroll and tax regulations. Proficiency in accounting and payroll software such as BrightPay, Sage Payroll, and Xero is essential. Excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently are key. Strong communication and client service skills are also required, as the role involves regular interaction with clients and team members.
