Your new company
Your new company is a leading mechanical and electrical engineering contractor that employs 2,000 highly-skilled professionals across Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe. They provide full mechanical and electrical contracting services as well as specialist high voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) design and construction services. They work with clients across a number of different sectors, including Data Centres, Life Sciences, Industrial, and Power and Renewables.
Your new role
In your new role as Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the engineering activities on a specific construction project. The activities associated with the project will vary and will be agreed with the Project Manager on an ongoing basis. You will co-ordinate the technical design with the onsite installation through to the successful commissioning, ensuring the company’s vision, mission & values are fulfilled.

Pay Range and Compensation Package:
You will be paid at a competitive hourly rate between €25 to €35 per hour. These are typically paid for 40 hours per week, and you will be paid for any overtime hours worked. This comes out to approximately 50k to 70k when converted to an annual salary. This is open to PAYE and self-employed workers. It's a great time to join their expanding organisation as you will have great exposure to multi-million-euro projects and grow within to progress to more senior roles.

Your new role
In your new role as Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the engineering activities on a specific construction project. Your responsibilities as a Mechanical Engineer include:
- Management of Site Safety in conjunction with the Safety Advisor.
- This will include the setup, management of and closing out of the safety file as part of the Management team.
- Management of Site QA in conjunction with the Mechanical Package Manager, including setting up, management and closing out of file.
- Familiarity with and management of Project Schedule in conjunction with other trades, Package Leads, consulting engineers and client requirements.
- Assist with the management of all costs associated with your package, including subcontractors.
- Material deliveries and goods receipting, Plant and Equipment, Variations and Valuations
- Management of all day-to-day on-site operations
- Management of subcontractor activities, including tracking progress against schedule and workforce levels. Ensure that there is a weekly minute meeting with the subcontractor.
- Management of the “In Progress” snagging system ensures that you return weekly punch lists where applicable.
- Issue direct labour hours and subcontractor hours to time administrator for tracking centrally.
- Attendance at Site Meetings, Internal Project Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Planning and Co-ordination Meetings and Handover Meetings
- Close out of all project items, including O & M Manuals, Punch List, Safety File, QA File – all with the support of the Mechanical package manager.
- Implement a weekly look ahead ensuring co-ordination with other trades.
- Issue internal weekly progress report.
- Schedule & Track material deliveries to correspond with the project schedule.
- Maintain a weekly project photographic diary.
- All other duties associated with this role.
What you need to succeed - 3rd level qualification in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or Senior Trades qualification or equivalent
- Significant project engineering experience of 5 years+ with a mechanical contractor
- Previous record of delivering small to medium mechanical projects (Commercial, Industrial, pharma, data centre type projects)
- Capability of walking down mechanical systems to ensure compliance with specifications.
- You have experience developing technical submittals, completing technical reviews and assessments.
- You have knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental systems and procedures – knowledge of the team, their strengths and weaknesses.
- You are an excellent communicator/ have strong interpersonal skills/communicate with impact.
- You have excellent record-keeping and administration skills.
- You lead and influence others.
- You are process-driven and focus on EHS and Quality Work Management Systems and Processes.
- Mentor and Coach to junior engineers and graduates
