Freight Operations/ Junior Freight Operator | Permanent, East Cork

Join a well-established freight forwarding and logistics organisation based in Little Island, Cork. Working as part of a busy sea freight team, you will support the smooth day-to-day operation of import, export and logistics activities in a fast-paced and customer-focused environment.
Your new role
As a Junior Sea Freight Operator, you will support the day-to-day administration and operation of import and export sea freight shipments. Working closely with the Operations Manager and wider team, you will help ensure shipment information, documentation and operational processes are managed accurately and efficiently.Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the processing of import and export sea freight shipments
- Maintaining accurate shipment records and operational data
- Preparing, checking and managing freight and shipping documentation
- Assisting with container control administration and shipment tracking
- Updating customer, shipment, container and transport information within company systems
- Supporting invoice processing and resolving invoice-related queries
- Preparing operational reports, trackers and performance data
- Responding to customer enquiries and providing shipment updates
- Liaising with customers, suppliers, carriers and internal departments
- Managing operational emails, correspondence and general office administration
- Supporting compliance, audit and reporting activities across the department
This is a fast-paced role that would suit someone with strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and an interest in developing a career in freight forwarding and international logistics.
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous administration, customer service, logistics or office-based experience is advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good data entry and record-keeping skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a busy environment and manage multiple priorities
- Experience within freight forwarding, logistics, shipping or supply chain would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of import/export processes, shipping documentation or CargoWise would be advantageous.
