Architectural Technologist specialising in historical buildings

Your new company

Our client is a respected architectural practice based in Limerick, specialising in culturally significant projects. They work with historic buildings across Ireland, delivering thoughtful, well crafted solutions that balance heritage with contemporary needs. Alongside this, they undertake modern projects, carefully integrating upgrades to existing structures. With a growing pipeline of heritage work, they are seeking an Architectural Technician to join our team.

Your new role

As an Architectural Technician, you will support a range of projects that involve both historic and modern buildings. Responsibilities include:
  • Preparing quality technical drawings and documentation for conservation and contemporary works.
  • Assisting with surveys, site inspections, and condition assessments of historic buildings.
  • Producing detailed construction information in compliance with Irish building regulations, fire regulations, DAC requirements, and all statutory guidelines.
  • Collaborating closely with architects and external consultants to ensure accuracy, compliance, and design integrity.
  • Contributing to project coordination from design through to construction.
  • Engaging in work on modern structures, typically small extensions or modifications to heritage buildings.
  • Travelling to site visits across the region as required.
  • Open to all levels of experience based on a requirement of an understanding of Irish history and a familiarity with Irish historic buildings.


What you'll need to succeed

  • A qualification in Architectural Technology or a related discipline.
  • Experience or strong interest in working with historic buildings.
  • At minimum, a solid understanding of Irish history and familiarity with Irish historic building types and construction methods.
  • Strong knowledge of fire regulations, DAC requirements, and Irish building regulations is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant software packages.
  • Strong technical detailing ability and a keen eye for accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car
