Mechanical Design Engineer - Commercial & Healthcare Projects

Your new company has been in operation for 40 years and specialises in providing high-quality Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) design, BIM, Energy & Sustainability, and Architectural services. With offices across Ireland and the UK, their multidisciplinary team partners with clients across a diverse range of sectors to shape smarter, more resilient buildings and infrastructure.
As they enter an accelerated growth phase across several business sectors, they are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer. They put a strong emphasis on staff, learning and development, and progression.
Your new role
In your new role as a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be working within their design team ensuring high-quality engineering and service for their clients. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be expected to have a thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical application of their engineering discipline, and a strong understanding of the other disciplines offered by the company while also leading and managing the full Mechanical Design on projects of all sizes.
A selection of your responsibilities include:
- Mechanical Design on projects of all sizes, always demonstrating client care.
- Provide quality control for Mechanical Engineering projects across all offices.
- Project cost control.
- Travel to client and project locations as required to represent the company for meetings/ surveys/training etc.
- Liaise and collaborate with other company offices on all matters as appropriate.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Minimum Degree level in Mechanical Engineering
- 3 to 5+ years Building Services Consultancy Design experience.
- Expert user of Microsoft Office
- Experience with thermal modelling, energy assessment, dynamic energy modelling software advantageous.
- Commercial sector knowledge and BIM experience are a strong advantage.
- Chartership Desirable.
- Proven experience of delivering detailed designs through the full design cycle.
- Deep knowledge of Irish building regulations, particularly TGD part B, F, G, L and the ability to demonstrate this knowledge in design and project lead.
- Excel at working on several projects simultaneously and show the ability to prioritise and plan work.
- Ability to lead projects internally and externally and be responsible for project performance, including satisfied clients, profitable projects, and maintaining the company’s reputation to enable repeat work.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of other building disciplines in the design and installation of buildings.
- Exhibit leadership qualities while working as part of a team.
- Ability to make prompt, disciplined project decisions.
- Excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
- Commercial Awareness.
