Finance Director job with Growing Waterford Business that is doubling in size.
Your new company
A long‑established, fast‑growing Waterford‑based food and hospitality group is seeking a senior finance leader to support its next phase of expansion. This is a dynamic, entrepreneur‑led organisation with over 25 years in business, multiple operating units under one group structure, a 3000 sq ft production facility, and a rapidly expanding business that has over 100 employees, an in-house IT function, and an ambitious management team. The business is now preparing for significant investment, with strategic plans to more than double in size, creating the need for an experienced Finance Director to help shape the future.
Your new role
As Finance Director, you will step into a pivotal leadership position—moving the organisation from a traditional book‑keeping setup to a strategically focused finance function. This is very much a hands on producing management accounts yourself, managing staff and a roll up the sleeves environment.
You will:
- Produce monthly management accounts with commercial commentary to advise the senior team.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, cash‑flow management, and commercial decision support.
- Manage billing, AR, AP.
- Ensure robust Creditor system is in place.
- Responsible for banking, dealing with all Tax matters and company filing.
- Build robust reporting frameworks, dashboards, and KPIs, ensuring information flows quickly and clearly to leadership.
- Support organisational restructuring as the business moves toward the creation of multiple entities under one group.
- Work closely with external advisors.
- Guide the management team through a period of significant growth, process improvement, and system upgrades—maximising the benefits of accounting software and automation tools.
- Engage directly with the owners, who are deeply involved in the business and value autonomy, trust, and proactive leadership.
- Oversee and modernise payroll with a plan to possibly outsource payroll.
You’ll have immediate impact on a business that recognises it has outgrown its existing finance structure and is ready for your expertise.
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with strong commercial acumen.
- Experience operating at senior finance level in a fast‑moving SME environment.
- Strong grounding in payroll, cash‑flow management, and labour‑cost reporting.
- Confidence implementing reporting systems, KPIs, and financial controls.
- Ability to work collaboratively with hands‑on owner‑directors while independently driving improvements.
- A change‑ready mindset—comfortable influencing decisions, introducing efficiencies, and embedding automation.
This role suits someone who is structured, forward‑looking, and capable of turning a good business into a great one through finance leadership.
What you'll get in return
- A key strategic leadership role with full influence over the finance function.
- A business that does not micromanage—your expertise will guide decision‑making at senior level.
- Hybrid working arrangements.
- Competitive salary: Upto 85k DOE
- Pension
- The opportunity to build a finance structure from the ground up as the company prepares for significant growth.
- A supportive team with long service (most 10+ years) and a culture that embraces progress, efficiency, and smarter ways of working.
