Your new role
As Facilities Manager, you will report taking responsibility for the effective management, maintenance, and operation of the organisation's facilities. You will oversee building services, contractor performance, compliance programmes, and workplace services while ensuring a safe, functional, and cost-effective environment for staff and visitors.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing planned and reactive maintenance activities across building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
- Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and statutory regulations.
- Managing facilities budgets, monitoring expenditure, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Leading procurement processes and managing contracts with external service providers.
- Overseeing vendor relationships and ensuring agreed service levels are maintained.
- Coordinating space planning, workplace moves, and resource allocation projects.
- Managing workplace services including cleaning, catering, security, and housekeeping.
- Leading on sustainability initiatives and supporting green innovation practices.
- Coordinating emergency response activities and business continuity measures.
- Producing reports and recommendations for senior management on facilities performance and improvement opportunities.
This is an initial 6-month contract with the possibility of extension for up to 24 months in total.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A recognised third-level qualification in Facilities Management or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Facilities Management or similar leadership role.
- Demonstrable experience in contract management, procurement, and supplier relationship management.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance programmes, workplace health and safety, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Experience managing budgets, financial controls, and cost optimisation initiatives.
- Proven expertise in facilities operations, space planning, relocation projects, and asset management.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing contractors and multidisciplinary service teams.
- Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable experience includes sustainability initiatives, continuous improvement programmes, and the implementation of modern facilities' management technologies and systems.
