A Transport Engineer is required for an office in Galway.

Your new company

You’ll be joining a dynamic and expanding civil engineering consultancy based in Galway. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects, the company is growing its transport capability and seeking strategic hires to support leadership and innovation in the field of traffic and road engineering.

Your new role

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of traffic engineering, road design, and mobility planning projects across both public and private sectors. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Designing roads, junctions, roundabouts, car parks, and active travel infrastructure from feasibility to construction.
  • Preparing and reviewing Traffic and Transport Impact Assessments, Mobility Management Plans, and Travel Plans.
  • Advising clients and colleagues on parking, bicycle, EV, and shared vehicle requirements.
  • Managing client relationships, stakeholder engagement, and liaising with authorities such as TII and local councils.
  • Overseeing transport and junction modelling using industry-standard software.
  • Ensuring compliance with Irish standards (TII, DMURS, NTA).
  • Preparing technical reports, tender documentation, and planning responses.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Honours Degree (Level 8+) in Civil or Transportation Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer (or close to achieving chartership).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish road and traffic design standards.
  • Proven leadership in design delivery through all project stages.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D desirable) and traffic modelling tools (Picady, Arcady, Oscady, Transyt).
  • Full driving licence.
  • Excellent communication skills, client-facing confidence, and technical acumen.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous professional development.
