Transport Engineer

Your New Role
As a Traffic & Transport Engineer, you will take full responsibility for fulfilling the traffic modelling requirements for development projects throughout Ireland. Your key responsibilities will include preparing Traffic Impact Assessments (TIA), Mobility Management Plans (MMP), Travel Plans, designing junctions, roundabouts, car parks, and access to car parks and basements. You will engage with and advise colleagues and clients on parking ratios, bicycle, electric vehicle, and shared vehicle requirements for developments. Additionally, you will liaise with Local Authorities and An Bord Pleanala as required, coordinate the development of all traffic and transport drawings and reports, attend design team meetings and workshops, and actively engage in continuous professional development and the route to Chartership.

What You'll Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  1. A Master's degree (or equivalent education plus experience) in Civil or Structural Engineering from a reputable institution.
  2. Chartered status or eligibility for chartership with Engineers Ireland or an equivalent body.
  3. A minimum of 3 years' experience in traffic modelling with Picady, Arcady, Oscady, and Transyt software (or similar).
  4. At least 3 years' experience in preparing traffic reports such as Traffic Impact Assessments (TIA), Mobility Management Plans (MMP), Travel Plans, and general transport design for planning.
  5. Detailed knowledge of Irish traffic and transport codes of practice and Local Authority requirements.
  6. Experience working in a civil and structural consulting engineering office.
  7. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of representing the firm in design team and client meetings.
  8. Excellent initiative and an eagerness to provide top-level engineering services as part of a multi-functional team.
  9. Experience in LRD/SHD or large-scale planning applications (desirable but not essential).
  10. A full driver's license is desirable, and a valid work permit to work in Ireland is essential.
