Senior Structural Engineering opportunity with DJF Engineering Services – Consulting Engineers based in Cork

DJF Engineering Services Ltd, Consulting Engineers & Project Managers is an independent firm located in Cork.
The practice has maintained a reputation for high quality service over a wide range of projects and to a large client group, including Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices, Industrial, Commercial, Local Authorities and private clients.
The role fulfilled by DJF includes full Project Management and Engineering of all project stages, including Concept/Feasibility, Local Authority Approvals, Detailed Design, Contractor Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Handover.
Your new role
- Lead and co-ordinate DJF Team Design activities, in collaboration and co-ordination with other Design Team members, Clients, Contractors and other stakeholders.
- Reviewing and checking Designs and Calculations.
- Mentoring and guidance to junior engineers.
- Structural Design, calculations, Reports.
- Review of DJF tender & construction packages to maintain high quality standards.
- Detailed co-ordination of Design Packages, to include BIM / Revit reviews.
What you'll need to succeed
- Minimum Level 8 Degree in Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years relevant experience of Structural Design.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience of taking a lead design role on projects.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng with Engineers Ireland, MIStructE, or equivalent)
Relevant experience ideally includes:
- Experience of designing building structures using structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, proprietary roofing and cladding products, composite floors.
- Experience of designing alterations and modifications to building structures.
- Experience of designing foundations, pile caps, retaining structures.
- Experience of specifying and reviewing site investigations.
- Experience of preparing sketches to illustrate designs.
- Experience of writing technical reports.
- Experience of reviewing and checking completeness and accuracy of tender and construction drawings.
- Experience of inspecting construction works and preparing site reports.
- Experience of coordinating designs with other disciplines.
- Must be aware of a designer’s responsibilities the Health & Safety Regulations.
- Familiarity with the requirements and implementation of the Irish Building Regulations.
- Have an understanding of project stages, team roles, standard industry practices and procedures.
- An ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment and communicate clearly with other team members.
- Self-motivated and an ability to produce accurate work to strict project deadlines.
- Must be able to plan, organise and implement concurrent tasks and projects.
- Perform work in compliance with our Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015).
- Flexible and enthusiastic team player with an attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience of projects in the life sciences/pharmaceutical sector would be an advantage.
- Experience of preparing contract documents and Project Management would be an advantage.
- Revit & BIM experience and competency would be an advantage.
