Hays has been retailed to recruit a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer for our client, a leading MEP design consultancy based in Cork.

Your new role

• You will have 2 years’ Building Services Consultancy Design experience and be a competent user of Revit/MEP, Autodesk Applications with BIM experience advantageous.
• You will fulfil mechanical design work as required, working to project deadlines. You will assist modellers with producing detailed working drawings in 4D and scheme drawings as well as develop the project scope with the design team/client.
• You will follow our Environmental Management systems, including all related environmental policies, procedures and training, and shall perform your duties in a manner that supports the company's environmental objectives and sustainability commitments.
• This role is primarily office-based with a hybrid working model with the occasional representation at client meetings as required.

What you'll need to succeed

• Minimum Degree qualification in Mechanical Design Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of Mechanical Building Services Consultancy Design experience.
  Proficient user of the following:
• Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint etc.)
• Autodesk Applications (AutoCAD/Design Review/ Revit MEP)
• Building Information Modelling (BIM) experience will be advantageous.
• Commercial sector knowledge / experience a strong advantage
• Competent in the design and specification of mechanical building services in a variety of industries and project types, sizes and complexity.
• Experience in delivering detailed designs through a full design cycle.
• Knowledge and experience in the following Mechanical design areas: Water Services, Heating / LTHW, HVAC, Natural Gas systems, above-ground drainage and BMS.
• Knowledge of MEP, including HVAC and Public Health services design
• Understanding of specific building services design tools, such as IES.
• Knowledge of CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS and EN Standards.
• Commercial sector knowledge/experience is a strong advantage.
• Building Information Modelling (BIM) experience will be advantageous.
• Mechanical building services design knowledge/ experience is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of communal plant heating systems would be advantageous.
• Project management, problem-solving, presentation, communication and IT skills are essential.
• Team player with the ability to learn from your colleagues.
