Mainframe Database Admin - Contract - Hybrid/Dublin

Who will you be working for?

You will be working for one of Ireland's largest banks, who are based in south Dublin. They provide a full range of personal, business and corporate banking services. In recent years, their business has been restructured with the aim of becoming a customer-focused, profitable and lower risk institution, well positioned to support economic recovery in Ireland while seeking to generate sustainable shareholder returns. Working as a Mainframe DBA, you will be immersed in the technological and progressive culture that exists in the company. You will need to be available for the on-call rota for this position every 3-4 weeks.

What will you be working on?

You will be an integral part of the Database team, which sits within the wider Enterprise Tech and Data organisation. You will support a number of Database systems and critical banking applications. Your responsibilities will include utilising your extensive knowledge of DB2 (zOS) to oversee database design, performance tuning, and maintenance. You’ll ensure data integrity, security, and efficient query execution. You will leverage your expertise in IMS Fast Path DB, handling database administration tasks related to IMS databases, including data modeling, indexing, and access methods. You will create and maintain JCL scripts for batch processing, ensuring smooth execution of database-related jobs, along with participating in change management processes, implementing updates, patches, and enhancements. Additionally, you’ll handle incident resolution and troubleshooting.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for candidates with strong experience, minimum 8 years DBA experience which is essential for this role. You will possess extensive experience with DB2 (zOS) administration, including utilities, performance analysis, and tuning. You will have a strong understanding of IMS Fast Path DB, proficiency in IBM Mainframe for batch processing, excellent interpersonal skills along with participating in the on-call rota every 3-4 weeks.
