Instrumentation and Controls Engineer - City Centre Office - Pharmaceutical and Commercial Projects
Your New Company
Established over 25 years ago, your new company is a multidisciplinary consulting engineering practice, delivering design, project management and construction supervision services. They work with a wide array of international and domestic clients, primarily in the industrial sector and across a range of pharmaceutical, healthcare, process and food industry projects.
They currently have an opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join their team. The position will be based in their office in the city centre and the successful candidate will work on a variety of projects in the Pharmaceutical, Industrial and Commercial Sectors from initial concept through to detailed design and handover.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop I/O Lists and Instrument Indexes
- Develop schematics, loop drawings, work instructions/method statements in accordance with best practice.
- Preparation of instrumentation specifications including Tender and Construction packages
- Develop instrument data sheets and take responsibility for the complete and verification life cycle.
- Liaise with sales engineers, project engineers, customers, suppliers and subcontractors
- Complete on-the-ground surveys of sites as part of the overall project
- Consult with clients, project team and contracts managers to develop a full understanding of technical requirements.
- Review and input into Process P&ID drawings
- Ability to complete concept designs for new control systems and develop strategies to suit customer requirements.
- System Architecture Development and Design
- Automation and Control Systems Scopes of Work
- Construction and Commissioning support on projects where required.
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates
- Preparation of technical reports, as required
- Assist in the preparation of contract documentation
- Manage health and safety requirements relevant to the work being undertaken
- Other tasks, as may be required to support the delivery of projects
- Assist if required in compiling submissions, proposals and quotations for new business.
What You Need to Succeed
- Level 7/8 in a relevant Electrical/Instrumentation discipline with 3–5 years of experience, ideally in delivering I&C designs for the Bio-Pharmaceutical, Pharmaceutical and Life Science Sectors
- Experienced designing with bus technology – Fieldbus, Profibus, Devicenet, Ethernet IP, etc.
- Ability to read and understand Process P&IDs and to develop packs for the associated instrumentation
- Demonstrate an understanding of DCS/PCS and PLC systems
- Ability to deliver Automation and Systems Scopes of Works and contribute to or develop Functional Specifications (FS) and User Requirements Specifications (URS) for these
- Can work with Automation Contractors in developing solutions / systems
- Proactive, a good communicator with the ability to work well with others in a multifunctional team and the ability to perform lead duties on projects and, as required
- Excellent level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Good knowledge of AutoCAD
