General Manager / Director is required in east Galway.

Job Title: General Manager / Director
Our client is a leader in offsite construction, specialising in the design, manufacture, and installation of steel frame structures for large projects throughout Ireland and the UK. They use modern construction methods and advanced BIM software to deliver premium offsite solutions. Their services include structural design and the provision of steel frames, complete with finished external envelopes such as windows, doors, roof finishes, and facades.

Role Overview
Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced General Manager / Director. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in setting and achieving company objectives, managing daily operations, and fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.

Main Objectives
  • Collaborate with the CEO to establish overall company objectives.
  • Develop and set quarterly and annual budgets, goals, and targets with the CEO.
  • Implement plans to achieve objectives, goals, and targets in coordination with each functional manager.
  • Oversee daily company activities, including staff management, equipment, processes, quality control, material procurement, and transportation to sites.
  • Temporarily assume the role of production manager until a full-time appointment is made.
  • Develop a clear, simple weekly routine to coordinate management team activities.
  • Establish regular routines for reviewing operational targets and objectives.
  • Promote a culture of respect, teamwork, continuous improvement, achievement, and loyalty.
  • Implement, review, and enhance the company’s integrated management system.
  • Develop and refine processes and procedures for efficient company operations.
  • Initiate an ongoing program for employee skills assessment and development.
  • Ensure QEHS (Quality, Environment, Health, and Safety) is central to all processes and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the overall company-wide project schedule with the management team.
  • Supervise the production team and processes.
  • Oversee the upkeep and maintenance of the facility.
  • Lead weekly management meetings.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the QEHS Integrated Management System (IMS), including assurance, warranty, and certification schemes like ISO, SCI, and BOPAS.
  • Ensure production HR policies and documents are current.
  • Handle the hiring of production staff.
  • Ensure the company meets all statutory requirements (e.g., insurance, EHS).
Skills and Experience Required
  • Experience in general construction and production management.
  • Knowledge of good manufacturing practices and lean principles.
  • Experience in either manufacturing or construction is essential.
  • Experience in offsite construction is a significant advantage.
  • Strong team management skills to achieve targets and deadlines.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and capable of motivating a team.
  • Results-driven with a collaborative team spirit.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
