A Construction Project Manager is required in Galway for a 3-year project, working 37 hours per week.

Construction Project Manager - 3 Year fixed Term Contract, 37 Hours pw. Client side project management experience would be an advantage.
Our client is looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to plan and supervise a wide range of construction and other projects from start to finish. You will organise and oversee construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner, within budget and with minimum levels of disruption. Advise on business cases for capital investment. Manage and report on project risks and opportunities, including supporting the administration process for each project. Provide expertise to key stakeholders and the management team. You will be involved in many aspects including project(s) scope, timing, cost, quality and health, safety, security & environment: The size and scope of the project may vary from small weekly activities to large scale developments.
Client side project management experience would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading a project from initiation to delivery and close out
  • Coordinate and facilitate communication amongst all stakeholders
  • Support the senior team in preparing early business case information for new projects
  • Competency in PSDP and PSCS and risk management.
  • Engage contractors for preliminary surveys where applicable
  • Engage a cad technician for creating drawings for smaller projects
  • Applies GC APPs for surveys, inspections, drawings, imagery etc
  • Liaison with infection prevention control and Health & Safety consultant
  • Define and manage the project scope, ensuring it aligns with the project goals
  • Engage and appoint design team members, lead the design & project teams, coordinating with the Engineering Manager and team.
  • Issue tender packs for small scale works where applicable
  • Develops and manage project schedules and timelines
  • Establish and manage budgets including creating purchase orders, approval, tracking expenses and cost savings
  • Track project progress and corrective actions
  • Safety file and O&M pack review
  • Regular site inspections to confirm plans and specifications are adhered to
  • Coordinate requirements in relation to Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) including the following:
o Securing the site
o Builders waste
o Dust control
o Fumes
o Noise
o Out of hours work coordination
o Work restrictions for planning
o Stakeholder management (local complaints about noise or blockages or traffic etc)
o Coordinate H&S plans with H&S design plan and H&S construction plan
o Infection Control, Health & Safety Radiation Protection Equipment commissioning
  • Manage the overall equipment schedule & schedule coordination between contractor scope and internal commissioning of equipment.
  • Coordinate risk assessments (cost overruns, supply chain issues, design decisions)
  • Information and communication management dealing with all RFIs and clarification requests
  • Coordination of scope works (will mostly impact between internal and MEP)
  • Deliver high quality projects on time, to the right scope, and on budget, with minimal levels of disruption.
  • Ensure projects are delivered as sustainably as possible whilst meeting industry standards for similar projects.
  • Partake in Quality initiatives within department
  • Any other duties as required by the Head of Facilities

Requirements & Skills
  • B.Sc./BA in Engineering, building science or relevant field or equivalent.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification will be an advantage.
  • Proven experience as construction project manager
  • Previous experience working in a hospital environment is desirable.
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles
  • Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Familiarity with construction/ project management software
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Familiarity with budget management
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • A team player with leadership abilities
