Estimator needed for major construction tenders – analyse, price, and win work.

Your new company
A leading main contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to support the tendering and pre‑construction function. The company delivers large, complex projects across multiple sectors and is expanding its commercial team due to continued growth.


Your new role
As Estimator, you will play a key role in securing new work by preparing accurate, detailed, and timely tenders. You will analyse drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and related documentation to ensure competitive and profitable bid submissions. The role involves coordinating subcontractor and supplier pricing, evaluating risks and ambiguities, and seeking clarification where required.
You will also contribute to improving tendering systems and procedures, staying up to date with contractual changes and industry developments. The position requires both strong teamwork and the ability to operate independently, supported by excellent IT and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and collate accurate, detailed, and timely tenders.

  • Analyse drawings, specifications, BOQs, and other documents for pricing.

  • Source and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.

  • Identify ambiguities, risks, and qualifications, seeking clarification when needed.

  • Support continuous improvement of tendering systems and processes.

  • Stay informed on contractual and industry developments.

  • Work collaboratively within the team while also managing tasks independently.

  • Utilise strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and QS/estimating software.

    What you'll need to succeed

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Estimator or Estimator/QS role.

  • Third‑level qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.

  • Strong technical understanding of tendering and cost estimation.

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong IT proficiency, particularly with MS Office and QS‑related software.

  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to deadlines.
