Health & Safety - Civils - Infrastructure - Construction - Dublin - Meath - Kildare

Your New Company:

A leading civil engineering and residential groundworks contractor is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer to join their team on a number of long‑term projects coming up in the Dublin area, both north and south. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced site environment and has a strong understanding of safety requirements across bulk excavation, drainage, utilities, foundations, and residential infrastructure work.

Your New Role & Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across a busy civils site across the Dublin / Kildare / Wicklow / Meath. You will work closely with the Project Manager, Site Engineers, and Foremen to ensure all works are carried out safely and in line with company procedures and Irish legislation.

Selection of Duties:
  • Conduct daily site inspections and audits across all groundworks and civils activities.
  • Ensure compliance with the Safety Management System, RAMS, and relevant legislation (including the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act).
  • Prepare, review, and update site-specific risk assessments and method statements.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and ongoing safety briefings to site personnel and subcontractors.
  • Monitor high‑risk activities such as deep excavations, confined spaces, lifting operations, traffic management, and utility installations.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and non‑conformances, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, reports, and records for internal and external audits.
  • Liaise with client representatives and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Support continuous improvement of safety culture across the project team.

What You'll Need to Succeed:
  • NFQ Level 7/8 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
  • 3+ years’ experience working with construction or civils contractors.
  • Strong understanding of Irish construction legislation and PSCS/PSD requirements.
  • Experience in groundworks, residential infrastructure, or civils projects is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to influence safe behaviour on site.
  • Full clean driving licence.

  • You will be given the option of either an hourly rate or a salary.
  • The hourly rate on offer is between €35 - 45 per hour depending on experience levels (€X - €X typically, 45–50 hours per week) – This can be a PAYE or self-employed basis.
  • Salaries are offered in the region of €50,000 to €70,000 + either a vehicle or allowances and performance bonuses / pension contribution etc. Your experience level and what you can bring to the team will dictate where you fall in that range.
