Your new role

• Preparing accounts files and financial statements for sole traders and audit exempt clients based on information provided by clients
• Using accounting packages for the maintenance of books and records
• Assisting in the preparation of income tax and corporation tax returns
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Liaising with clients in order to complete accounts and tax work
• Payroll processing
• Assisting the practice manager in delivering client services.

What you'll need to succeed

• Relevant degree, Accounting Technician or bookkeeper qualification
• Accounting practice experience of 2 years or more
• A good knowledge of accounting standards
• Proficiency in MS Office and other accountancy and payroll software packages (Bright Pay, Surf, XERO, Sage and Thesaurus)
• An ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines to ensure that compliance requirements are met
• To be a team player, able to work on your own initiative and possess good self-management
• Work of the highest quality and technical competence
• Have a keen interest in learning and in career progression
