Design Project Manager - Life Sciences - Dublin 2 Office
Your New Company
Established over 35 years ago, your new company is a multidisciplinary consulting engineering practice, delivering design, project management and construction supervision services. They work with a wide array of international and domestic clients, primarily in the industrial sector and across a range of pharmaceutical, healthcare, process and food industry projects.
They currently have an opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Design Project Manager to join their team. The position will be based in their office in the city centre and the successful candidate will work on a variety of projects in the Pharmaceutical Sector from initial concept through to detailed design and handover.
Your New Role
As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the design process across multiple pharmaceutical projects. This role ensures that all design elements align with project goals, budgets and timelines.
This role is best suited to an individual with previous main contractor experience managing the design for Life Science. This is a great opportunity to join an established team with a strong pipeline of work.
Your responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage the design process from concept to construction.
- Manage and coordinate architectural, structural, and MEP design consultants throughout all project phases.
- Review drawings and specifications for accuracy, completeness and constructibility.
- Act as point of contact for design-related matters with clients, ensuring the design development is on program to allow construction to progress.
- Ensure all design disciplines are aligned and integrated in a timely manner to allow team review, comment and follow up.
- Report design & engineering progress in client meetings highlighting any concerns or risks to the project.
- Review and critique design documents for accuracy, constructibility, code compliance, and alignment with project budgets and schedules.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements without compromising design intent or quality.
- Review quality plans and ensure procedures are implemented on site, including design risk assessments as per the project requirements.
- Identify and resolve design issues to avoid delays while ensuring compliance with building regulations and standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in design management within the construction industry.
- Life Sciences experience is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of design software systems (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and construction processes
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
