Hays Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Technical Services Engineer to join our client, a leading semi state company for the Net Zero 2040 strategy based in Cork.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include the items below:
- Applying a high level of safety standards in every aspect of the work .
- Take a leadership role in Safety in all Distributed Generation Activities.
- Provide technical service support to the Assets and Contracts Manager.
- Provide technical expertise in the area of battery energy storage (BESS), solar, synchronous condensers and gas turbine technology and their related auxiliaries. Other technologies may be incorporated in future.
- Produce comprehensive and accurate monthly performance reports ( report RAM data, contract performance, etc.).
- Monitor on a regular basis the operating performance and efficiency of the plant to ensure it continues to operate at optimum efficiency, output and within Contractual and Warranty obligations.
- Provide advice and support to the O&M team.
- Supports Long Term Asset Management process for multiple technologies and sites within the portfolio.
- Development of technical specifications, lead the review and evaluation of tenders and production of tender evaluation reports.
- Support the acquisition of new or existing plant where required.
- Manage several contracts such as technical support, CCTV, etc.
- Support and lead engagement (as applicable) with key stakeholders such as Eirgrid, EPA, GNI, Asset Dev and EMP.
- Provide support as applicable to the Site Managers during the planning and execution phase of an outage.
- Lead failure investigations, root cause analysis and problem solving.
- Develop, implement and maintain technical standards and guidelines.
- Support optimisation of lifetime O&M and asset management planning.
- Undertake ad hoc projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential The successful candidate will:
- Proven ability to deliver on the “key responsibilities” outlined above.
- Have a strong safety and risk management focus.
- Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment Standards and procedures.
- Work individually or within a team
- Self-motivated and ability to project-manage own work and coordinate with others.
- Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure
- Be assertive and have excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills.
- Be flexible and service motivated. Flexibility is important in all aspects of the role, including travel nationally and internationally.
- Very strong report writing capability and documentation skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
Desirable
- A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience is required in O&M of generating plant, project work or equivalent.
- Knowledge of all aspects of equipment (electrical , C&I, mechanical) utilised in power plant projects.
- Trained, authorised and experienced in Generation and Trading SSoW Safety Rules or equivalent.
- Understanding of the commercial side of a Power Generation business
Qualifications Essential
- Degree qualification in an Engineering Discipline.
