Here in Hays Recruitment, we are currently recruiting for a Scientific Services Quality Manager to join their client, a leading semi-state organisation. This is a full time, permanent position. This role is also hybrid reporting to the companies Limerick site.

Your new role
The Scientific Services functional area is responsible for the national provision of operational support services to include sampling and laboratory analytics, ensuring that activities are performed in accordance with regulatory obligations to protect public health and the environment.
The Scientific Services Quality Team will develop, communicate and manage the Laboratory Quality Management Systems. They will oversee technical audits of the Scientific Services team and transportation logistics provider(s) to ensure customer focus and compliance with standards operating to specific ISO standards and legislation. They will provide direction and leadership in specialist process optimisation and continuous improvement methodologies across scientific services. The teams are required to work weekly shift patterns including covering ‘skeleton staff’ schedule at weekends, as required.
Reporting directly to the Scientific Services Manager, the Scientific Services Quality Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining accreditation of the Scientific Services teams overseeing the audit and quality activities
Responsible for designing and delivering technical audits of the Scientific Services teams and transportation logistics provider(s) to ensure customer focus and compliance with ISO 17025, ISO 17020, ISO 5667 sampling and analysis standards and adherence to relevant legislation to ensure the maintenance of accreditation
Third level degree (level 8 or higher) in Science, Environmental or related discipline
• Chartered status with scientific discipline preferred
• Significant direct relevant experience
• Knowledge of current analytical best practices and procedures within Scientific Services
• Skilled technical auditor with experience carrying out audits against ISO 17025 and other relevant requirements
• In depth knowledge of the requirements of ISO 17025 and relevant standards with respect to the operation of drinking and wastewater testing
• Experience managing staff with a proven track record of delivering results through direction, empowerment and motivation of team members
• In depth knowledge of the application of the current legislation, standards, processes and procedures relevant to scientific services
• Capable of building a high performing team and of developing people to realise their full potential and achieve results through effective coaching, delegation and support
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Effective communication skills, to engage with a broad range of internal stakeholders, customers and front-line employees
• Experience / understanding of working within a strong health & safety culture
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to make decisions based on analysis of information within a very fast paced, customer focused environment
• Full clean driving license
• IT and computing skills i.e., ability to create and interpret spreadsheets and databases
• Strong knowledge of the water industry preferred
• Experience in achieving accreditation for Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001)
• Knowledge and understanding of scientific, sampling and laboratory analytical procedures, methodologies and practices

- Determine Audit/ QA activities with input from accreditation bodies and ensure implementation by the Scientific Services teams
