Hays Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join our client, a leading contractor working on Pharmaceutical projects based in Cork.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES OF A PROJECT MANAGER

Safety:
• Work with company management in execution and ongoing development of company safety management system.
• Adhere to all Construction and Client site rules and SOPs.
• Set example regarding adherence to PPE requirements and contributing, promoting a safe workplace and positive safety culture.
• Ensure Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS) are prepared and approved for all site activities in advance of commencement.
• Communicate contents of Project EHS Induction and activity specific RAMS to all staff engaged on project.
• Ensure that the requirements of EHS Induction and activity specific RAMS are adhered to by all site staff at all times.
• Gain an understanding of the Safety, Health and Welfare Construction Regulations 2013.
• Ensure that all PSCS Role responsibilities are delivered on projects.
• Support site EHS audits and walk downs, ensure timely close out of all resultant actions
• Liaise and communicate aspects related to EHS to all project stakeholders.

Quality:
• Work with company management in development of quality management systems towards achieving third party accreditation to industry standard.
• Oversee standard of workmanship of all site staff to ensure that best in class finishes are achieved on Construction projects.
• Prepare & submit Technical Submittals for prior client approval for all materials and equipment to be incorporated into completed project.
• Raise Request for Information where clarification on project scope or specification is required from client design team.
• Raise Confirmation of Verbal Instructions to confirm verbal instructions delivered on site by client construction management team.
• Prepare & submit project handover file on completion of project.
• Manage BCAR inspections if BCAR applies.
• Adopt an open communication approach with site staff, client design team to help identify and mitigate any issues arising on projects through execution.
• Identify snags on work on an ongoing basis and manage timely close out with sub-contractors.
• Support client and client project design & management team in their review of standards achieved on site.
• Flag any non-conformances identified on site with manager as soon as possible and work with manager and site staff to agree remediation.

Project Management:
• Manage day to day operations on site and coordinate activities and on site work areas with all site.
• Adopt a professional & courteous manner with all site staff and project stakeholders.
• Prepare and update project schedule through execution, communicate schedule to all project stakeholders.
• Maintain a written daily record of all activity on site including details of man-hours spend at each task through the day.
• Coordinate the procurement of materials and equipment necessary to ensure the efficient delivery of the project scope, in line with schedule.
• Identify any risks to project delivery with manager and work with them to mitigate.
• Prepare & communicate monthly project progress reports and chair site progress meetings with stakeholders.
• Maintain Project Management registers including RAMS, Technical Submittals, RFIs etc. and associated actions.
• Work with company commercial management team in preparation of applications for payment, pricing of variations and certification of sub-contractor payments.

CPD:
• Continue learning by means of research and accumulation of information from each project
• Attend CPD courses as instructed by Construction organisation, completing examinations and assessments as required.

General Management:
• Support any other activity that is necessary for the general running of the company
• Keep Role and Responsibilities document live with any new tasks that are added.
