Your new role
Reporting to the Networks Safety Manager, you will be responsible for the management and enhancement of the Process Safety Frameworks within the company. You will work closely with the business to ensure that legislative and license requirements in relation to gas and technical safety in multiple jurisdictions are fully met. The role will cover both Transmission and Distribution assets across the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland, while managing a team of technical personnel, providing monitoring, assurance, technical advice and support on process safety.

As part of your role your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Leading and developing the process safety teams within HSQ to deliver world class safety performance.
  • Managing and reporting on the Process Safety Management System
  • Helping develop policies and procedures for compliance with relevant legislation and codes and controlling the safe management of pipelines and related assets operated by the organisation
  • Working with the business to ensure adequate measures, systems, procedures and policies in place to minimise the risk of process safety incidents/ accidents and/ or protect people from the effects of incidents/ accidents and ensure that risk is maintained to a level that is deemed as low as reasonably practical (ALARP).
  • Ensuring compliance with “safety case” in relation to risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Managing the provision of specialist process safety, support, measurement, assurance and audit activities to the business.
  • Managing and assisting in the investigation of process and asset related incidents and provide reports to CRU, HSA, HSE, HSENI in accordance with legislation, license conditions and internal procedures.
  • Identifying, raising and providing ongoing status monitoring/ updates on and process safety related risks and issues via the risk register as appropriate.
  • Managing the development, review, analysis and reporting on a range of process safety performance indicators to management on a regular basis.
  • Ensuring process safety activities are in alignment with relevant management systems and the Process Safety Framework.


What you'll need to succeed
  • Proven technical competence is essential – Engineering degree or other relevant qualification Minimum of at least 7 years relevant experience with a detailed technical knowledge of Transmission and Distribution natural gas engineering and experience in a senior technical management position.
  • Appropriate experience of major accident hazards and associated risk assessment techniques (e.g. HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA etc.) and technical/ engineering control measures.
  • Previous experience with initiating and maintaining strategic relationships both internally and externally, using strong influencing skills to achieve business goals.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, proactive coaching, development, motivation and engagement of staff.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, coupled with the ability to generate innovative technical solutions as required.
  • Strong risk assessment/management experience and knowledge of appropriate safety and risk-related tools

You will be remunerated a very strong salary based on your experience, this falls into a bracket of between €76,000 and €95,000. This will also include a yearly 7.5% bonus and a pension contribution up to 12%, along with a selection of other great perks and benefits. This is essentially a job for life for the right person
