Financial Accountant Job - Construction - hybrid working

Your new company
Your new company is a well-known leading manufacturer and supplier of construction materials headquartered in Ireland. Based three days per week in the office initially with more flexibility thereafter, your new company is looking for someone who is detail-orientated with great communication and proactive with a strong desire to learn.

Your new role
You will report to the Finance Team Lead and work closely with the Financial Controller and wider finance team. This is quite an operational role rather than a standard Financial Accountant role as you will be taking over the fixed asset process. This process is very large as they have a lot of projects and assets, so you will be liaising with the whole business and the project managers on this. There are big opportunities for growth as they are part of a much larger parent group.

  • Prepare the monthly Balance Sheet and take ownership of the integrity of the balance sheet.
  • Month End & Year End – ensure all balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled and reported. Support the preparation of journal entries and adjustments as necessary.
  • Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register with accurate details of all fixed assets.
  • Prepare reports and reconciliations related to fixed assets for month-end and year-end reporting.
  • Oversight and management of the insurance portfolio
  • Ensure SOX Compliance of the finance department
  • Assisting senior management as required through preparation of adhoc reports

What you'll need to succeed
  • Qualified accountant with 3 years PQE/Qualified by experience
  • Fixed Asset experience
  • Experience in industry, construction is preferable but not essential
  • Proficient with MS Word and Excel
  • Experience with Oracle Financials or similar accounting packages would be an advantage
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Good initiative and thorough approach to work
  • Used to working to tight deadlines.
  • Experience with Oracle would be an advantage
