Hays Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Engineer asset Lifecycle Management to join our client, a leading semi state company based in Cork.

Team - Electrical Engineer - Asset Lifecycle Management
Join our Transmission & Distribution Engineering Team as an Electrical Engineer where you will have the opportunity to provide specialist asset lifecycle management engineering services for Transmission (400, 220 & 110 kV) & Distribution (110 kV DSO & 38 kV) businesses.

We provide specialist engineering services in all stages of the lifecycle management process from commissioning new equipment to condition assessment of existing assets to end of life decommissioning decisions.

The team also;
  • provides specialist engineering services to the Networks and the Generation & Trading in the areas of DC Systems, fault investigations and SF6 management.
  • specialises in DC battery room inspections and ATEX compliance for explosive atmospheres.
  • installs and manages the Networks fleet of 110 kV and 220 kV mobile bay units.
  • deliver program and project management across a wide range of asset works.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will cover the items below:
  • Actively delivering the above services, providing consultancy services for International & external clients and enable TDE to deliver on the Brighter Future strategy.
  • Ensure maintenance programmes, asset health strategies and projects are delivered to the highest standards of safety and quality in accordance with the company's governance procedures.
  • Take on role of Lead Engineer in fault investigation projects where applicable
  • Keep abreast of developments in technology, customer business requirements, standards and service offerings in the market.
  • Develop and create policies and standards across technical areas and contribute to review and upkeep of internal documentation e.g. reports, standards and specifications.
  • Work collaboratively with all teams and other key stakeholders to drive innovative thinking and a new perspective in engineering proposals and decisions in the context of our growth ambitions.
  • Actively support the progress of cross company engineering excellence and new technologies by providing input in the development of new Maintenance Policies, Technical investigations, Online monitoring and diagnostics, Asset Health and Lifecycle Management strategies.
  • Contributing to ongoing Team Substation Maintenance research work and publishing technical papers at recognised international conferences.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Working as part of this dynamic team, you will always have new challenges and new problems to solve – working together is key. You will have the autonomy to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems with the support of your colleagues. We are looking for the following skills;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience
  • Strong project management and program management skills and knowledge
  • Strong technical knowledge of transmission and distribution substations plant
  • Strong technical knowledge of DC Battery Systems
  • Strong technical knowledge of ATEX installations and compliance
  • A proven track record in delivering substation maintenance projects
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures, Design Standards including Health, Safety and Environmental Standards and Legislation and Electrical
  • Ability to mentor new entrants and colleagues

Qualifications Essential
  • Either 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience is essential
