Hays Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Control & Instrumentation Engineer to join our client, a leading M+E company based in Cork.
Summary Scope of the Position
The Engineer will provide engineering input into all phases of the Electrical, Control & Instrumentation design, including Control System Hardware design, procurement, and commissioning for projects in the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Petrochemical, waste to energy and food industries.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Support the design for all instrumentation and control hardware elements of projects.
- Design to current national and international standards
- Ensuring compliance of project activities to the client and Customer SOP, and standards.
- Work as part of a dynamic team with different engineering disciplines
- Electrical/Control/Instrumentation design documentation and control using electrical CAD packages / EPLAN for system schematics Minimum 3 years' experience in electrical/Control/instrument Design
- Working knowledge gained through experience of instruments, motor control, sensors & component selection, and specification.
- Experienced working with mains voltage circuit wiring and Control Systems
- Experience with embedded controllers, I/O handling systems and PLC's
- Working knowledge of Technical Construction File requirements
- Development of Bill of Materials structures
- Plant commissioning experience
- Working knowledge of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
- Experience working in Quality Management system driven environment.
- Execution of Factory Acceptance Tests.
- Provide construction supervision including commissioning and startup support.
Pre-Requisite Skills/Knowledge/ Experience Required to perform the Key Tasks:
- Degree in Electrical / Applied Physics / Automation & Control or similar 3rd level qualification and/or experience. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
- Self-starter – ability to initiate and drive projects with little supervision.
- Creative problem solver – ability to find creative solutions with a “can-do” attitude, in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong work ethic – someone who loves to do great work and takes pride in professionalism, responsibility, and proactive-ness.
