Hays Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Safety and Environmental Specialist to join our client, a leading semi state electrical infrastructure company based in Cork.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate as part of the wider team in delivering against targets in the client Business Plan.
  • Contribute to the development of Department targets in line with Corporate and G&T policy and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation, accredited external standards and company standards including ISO 45001 accreditation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Environment legislation, accredited external standards and company standards including compliance with relevant site Industrial Emissions Licences and ISO14001 accreditation.
  • Manage and co-ordinate the Safety and Environmental Distributed Generation Manuals.
  • Ensure Safe System of Work and Safe and Sound are integrated into Distributed Generation operations.
  • Develop improvement plans to drive continuous improvement and ensure that all improvement programmes in all areas (Safety/Environment) are implemented within time, cost and scope targets.
  • Manage key relationships with internal and external stakeholders in areas of Safety and Environment including the various regulatory and licencing requirements under which the Distributed Generation assets operate.
  • Drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing in areas of Safety and Environment across Distributed Generation and wider Renewable Operations group.
  • Contribute to the mobilisation activities of new Distributed Generation assets and the integration into Safety and Environmental processes.
  • Providing support where required to the Wind Operations Safety Management Team.
  • Other duties which may from time to time be assigned by Distributed Generation Management.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential
  • Experience and competence in generation O&M activities.
  • Proven track record of Safety focus and leadership
  • Proven track record of engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The successful candidate will have proved ability to lead, empower and motivate staff to achieve optimum performance.

Desirable
  • Knowledge of power plant technologies, systems, and procedures

Qualifications Essential
  • H&S qualification and relevant work experience.

Desirable
  • Engineering Qualification
