Here in Hays Recruitment, we are currently recruiting for a Chartered Structural Engineer to join the team with our client here in Cork.

Your new role
  • Conduct your work in a safe manner - ensuring that all works are carried out to the highest Health and Safety standards and are compliant with all building regulations
  • Ensure that site managers and operatives clearly understand the information provided.
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with work colleagues and Clients.
  • Review detailed design, critique, and communicate with the design team to ensure adequate design is available for construction.
  • Complete engineering drawings, (e.g., steel) in a timely and organised fashion ahead of that project start date.
  • Resolving design and development problems.
  • Ensure setting-out information is relevant and available in a format that can be easily communicated on site.
  • Reading & interpreting drawings for layouts, materials measure etc.
  • Planning works in an efficient manner to ensure project deadlines are achieved.
  • Scheduling material and equipment purchases and delivery.
  • Ensuring projects run smoothly, and the structure is completed within budget and on time.
  • Ensure work is carried out to the highest of quality standards and certified for completion.

What you'll need to succeed
  • A third level degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Should be chartered with Engineers Ireland.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as a site engineer.
  • Experience working with a main contractor, subcontractor, surveying firm or similar preferred.
  • Good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project etc.
  • Ideally suitable candidates would be adept in the use of BIM related software and willing to train in new software applications.
  • Proactive and driven person with a strong desire to make progress backed by a strong level of construction knowledge.
