Accountant required with established manufacturer in Galway City on 12 month fixed term contract

Your new company
You will be joining an established and reputable manufacturing organisation based in Galway City. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic finance team within a growing business. The role will be based on-site for the first six months, transitioning to a hybrid working arrangement thereafter.

Your new role
As a Financial Accountant Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the finance team to maintain accurate financial records, ensure compliance with internal controls, and assist with critical reporting processes. This position offers exposure to a wide range of accounting activities, including intercompany reconciliations, profit and loss and balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close. You will be responsible for posting journals, managing ERP system processes, and maintaining the integrity of accounting ledgers. Additional duties include overseeing the corporate credit card process, preparing daily sales and treasury reports, reviewing production variances, authorising supplier and payroll payments, and operating the monthly cash flow forecasting model.

You will also assist in preparing monthly financial accounts packages, support the review of sales flash reports, and analyse variances against budgets and forecasts. The role involves contributing to internal and external audits by ensuring timely documentation, reviewing internal control procedures, recommending improvements, and performing ad-hoc administrative and financial tasks as required.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will hold a recognised accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or CPA), either full or part-qualified, and have previous experience in a similar position. Strong proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential, along with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. You should be highly inquisitive, proactive in problem-solving, and capable of working under pressure to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. A team-oriented approach combined with the ability to work independently is key, and fluency in English is required.

What you'll get in return
This role offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience with a well-established manufacturer, along with attractive working hours: Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:30 and Friday from 08:00 to 15:00. Additional benefits include free parking, a pension scheme, and full canteen facilities.
