A leading supplier of agricultural inputs and animal feeds across the island of Ireland. Annually at harvest the business processes more than 100,000 tonnes of native grain across eight locations, with manufacturing facilities for seeds and animal feeds in Drogheda and Navan and Dublin.
Since the early 70's they have added an agricultural division to its business based in Clonee, trading in grain, fertiliser, chemicals and agricultural seeds.
The company, over time, increased its branch network, opening grain intake points at Ardee, Drogheda, Kells, Knockbridge, Dromore and Navan. A seed manufacturing facility was developed at Drogheda and a ruminant feed manufacturing mill at Navan. They have developed the business across a more complete range of product lines, in which the animal feeds business has been developed and a chain of farm hardware shops added to their existing branches.
Your new role
Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for undertaking duties covering all aspects of Health and Safety in the workplace, including assisting with:
To maintain the company’s online Health & Safety management systems;
Conducting and updating risk assessments;
Ensuring that employees and contractors are compliant with all Health and Safety Legislation;
Providing advice on Health and Safety matters to both managers and employees;
Health and Safety investigations of accidents and near misses;
Preparation of monthly Health and Safety reports and collating Health and Safety statistics;
Conducting site inspections and providing training to employees;
Ensuring that our contractors’ codes of practice are up to date and adhered to by all employees and contractors
What you'll need to succeed
least two years’ experience in a Health and Safety role;
Working knowledge and experience of implementing and managing hazard identification and risk management processes;
Knowledge of ROI Health and Safety legislation;
Previous experience managing Health and Safety investigations;
Experience of managing and implementing Health and Safety management systems;
Good oral and written communication skills;
Excellent presentation skills;
The ability to work on their own initiative within a dynamic work environment;
Excellent analytical skills and a strong eye for detail;
A 3rd level qualification in a related discipline is desirable, as is a NEBOSH diploma.
The successful candidate will be required to travel between our company sites; therefore, a driving licence is essential
