Attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has been a core objective of Irish Government policy since the 1950s. IDA Ireland has been central to delivering on that objective for over 70 years and is regarded as one of the most successful investment promotion and development agencies in the world.
IDA Ireland is at the mid-point of its current four-year strategy “Driving Recovery and Sustainable Growth 2021 — 2024” which will deliver substantial job creation and economic activity for Ireland and its regions. In addition, our strategy will contribute significantly to a transformative recovery that embraces the future of work and the green transition. The organisation will ensure that Ireland’s existing base of foreign direct investment, which is a strategic national asset, is consolidated and the agency is positioned to ensure FDI remains central to Ireland’s economic success in the years of change ahead. Key to this delivery will be the leadership and the collaboration required with key senior decision matters across a wide range of key stakeholders, both nationally and internationally.
At this time of accelerated technological change, climate change and geopolitical uncertainty, international competition to win FDI is intense. IDA is seeking to recruit a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organisation, ensuring that FDI continues to play a crucial role in the Irish economy and growing and deepening FDI impact in Ireland.
The ideal candidate will be a visionary senior leader, with broad and in-depth understanding of global business landscapes and how Ireland’s FDI offering aligns with client business goals. S/he will have senior management experience across a number of business sectors and functions. The individual must be truly passionate about helping Ireland to win on the international stage, be results-driven, a great team leader and committed to the delivery of public service. The CEO is an ex officio member of the IDA Board. Given the extensive marketing and international media engagements required by this role, a well-developed communications skillset would also be desirable. Familiarity with public sector organisations and their role within Government would be an additional advantage. This position will involve extensive foreign travel.
