Hays Recruitment are currently recruiting an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our client, a leading manufacturing company based in Cork.


POSITION SUMMARY

As Maintenance Engineer (Electrical) you will be involved in the maintenance and installation of new machinery, the maintenance, and refurbishment of plant. You will be involved in continuous improvement projects.

The primary responsibility is to improve the efficiency and reliability of the organisations equipment, systems, and premises.

You will work as part of a team with regard to the maintenance of equipment and support with NPI, plant maintenance and upkeep. It will also be key to work alongside other functions as part of the NPI/Production Engineering team to ensure the efficient running of the equipment and to make sure the common objectives are met.



PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedule and undertake periodic maintenance on all equipment, components, and installations, from weekly PM’s to Annual PM’s
  • Carry out required paperwork for internal and external audits.
  • Provide prompt response to enquiries whenever there is a breakdown, and resolve the issue as quickly as possible
  • Carry out on-site audits of operator’s daily and weekly PM’s.
  • Ensure that equipment is in good working order to prevent disruption of activities
  • Electrical problem-solving and fault-finding skills
  • Installation of new electrical cabling, panels, containment, components, and fittings.
  • Recommend replacement for old or faulty assets/components or fittings to management
  • Assist in forecasting requirements & planned maintenance Saturday shutdowns and works.
  • Keep a record of all stock/supplies & re-order spare parts as required
  • Working in collaboration with the production/Quality/Eng/Lean team to formulate the best cost-effective manufacturing process
  • Perform energy audit and recommend alternative sources of energy
  • Help the organisation to reduce energy costs
  • Ensure that all electrical gadgets and instruments are switched off/on as required
  • Take part in TPM events and help implement the system
  • Fix and maintain lighting fixtures and fittings
  • Facilitate and supervise external contractors on a range of different project
  • Assist Calibration during equipment changeovers, changing air pressure gauges etc.
  • Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and provide preventive maintenance services
  • Learn new skills and attend training programs in order to increase knowledge of trends and best practices in the industry
  • Provide a safe working environment for members of staff, and ensure electricity induced accidents and mishaps are prevented
  • Supervise electrical works when new projects are undertaken
  • Working closely with H&S advisor along with environmental advisor
  • Office moves and re-design
  • Relocation of equipment
  • Working with I.T on cabling, server cabinets and services
  • Support the company in increasing profitability by managing resources efficiently and making necessary recommendations.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • An ability to work well under pressure
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong mechanical background
  • Lean and TPM experience
  • Relevant technical knowledge
  • Electrical problem-solving and fault-finding skills
  • Working on small and large projects and meeting deadlines
  • Maintenance Planning
  • Good computer skills
  • Efficiency and organisation
  • Team Player, working with other departments
  • AutoCAD
  • Good mechanical knowledge


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED

  • Electrical Qualification, in the manufacturing industry with 5-8 years experience, essential.
  • Robotic experience
  • CNC experience
  • Pneumatic experience
