Hays has been retained to find a Building Services Engineer for a well-known mechanical contractor based in Cork.

Your new role

The Building Services Engineer will support the delivery of HVAC and mechanical systems across commercial, healthcare, industrial, and pharma projects. The role covers design coordination, site delivery, commissioning, and handover in line with project, safety, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate HVAC, plumbing and mechanical building services from design through installation and commissioning
• Review drawings, specifications, schedules and technical submittals
• Liaise with project managers, site teams, subcontractors and design consultants
• Support programming, procurement and tracking of materials and equipment
• Attend site meetings and carry out inspections to ensure works meet design and regulatory standards
• Assist with commissioning, testing, snagging and system handover
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, QA/QC and building regulations

What you'll need to succeed

Degree or trade background in Mechanical / Building Services Engineering
Experience in HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, air handling)
Site-based project experience within a mechanical or building services contractor
Strong coordination, communication and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with Irish building regulations and commissioning processes (desirable)
